Thank you to everyone who came down to TechShop last night for Craft Party! It was so amazing to look out on the crowd & see a sea of smiling, laughing crafty faces. We will be writing up a more official review of the event next week. But some amazing numbers for you guys to be awed & inspired by right now:
  • 280+ crafty guests in attendance (from as far away as Finland... what a commute)
  • $920.99 in Bake Sale /Refreshment proceeds for Kelly Malone
  • $$$ - TechShop is gifting the entire cost of the venue rental to Kelly. (yes, it made us cry gratitude tears as well)

Craft Party - Meet Our Sponsors: GoGo Craft!

Lately, I've been getting asked about the "CRAFT" part in Craft Party...
  • Can I bring my own crafts and projects? - YES
  • Should I bring my own crafts and projects? - SURE, why not?
  • Will there be craft supplies? - OF COURSE!
  • Does that mean I can make other things? PLEASE DO!
  • Will there be a variety of fun projects? YOU BET!
And we'll do you one better! Here's a post about the fun activities that we're presenting, courtesy of our Craft Party sponsor, GoGo Craft!

GoGo Craft is ready to PAAARTY!  Get your Friday night needle and thread ready. We are excited to announce that GoGo Craft has been invited to lead our popular Hipster Plushie Workshop at Etsy’s Annual Craft Party on Friday, June 10th from 6-9pm.
Craft Party is Etsy’s awesome annual worldwide shindig in celebration of all things crafty, and it’s the kick off for I Heart Art: San Francisco.  This year’s party will be taking place at the Tech Shop in SF.  Don’t miss out- best of all it’s FREE!  RSVP here.
What is a Hipster Plushie Workshop?  Here are the crafty details:
Excited to make your own cuddly plushie but don’t want another teddy bear?  This is the workshop for you!  In this fun hand-sewing workshop you’ll learn how to make your very own mini felt plushie narwhal, mustache, squirrel, or robot that is perfect for gift-giving (if you can bear to part with it, that is).  Perfect for crafters of any level!
Come check out all the action this Friday night at:
926 Howard Street, San FranciscoCA 94103

Wanna see some of the crafts people have made with GoGo Craft?

I made this radioactive squirrel with a mustache last year!
You'll see those same sea green Chucks on Friday night. :)

Craft Party - Meet Our Sponsors: Bazaar Bizarre & CCE

One of the great things about working with I Heart Art: San Francisco is all the connections that we're making in the Bay Area's creative community. And what's even better is when people from within that community decide that they'd like to become more involved with helping us out!

And we could always use a little help from our friends!

In conjunction with our Craft Party that we're throwing on Friday, June 10th, we'd like you to get to know some of the folks that will be sponsoring various activities! To help us all get our craft on, here's a little more about Bazaar Bizarre San Francisco!

Bazaar Bizarre San Francisco
One of the premiere craft presences
in the Bay Area
Bazaar Bizarre began in 2001 in the Boston-area as an offbeat entertainment extravaganza to showcase the DIY movement and handmade goods. Bazaar Bizarre has spread across the nation to cities such as Los Angeles, Cleveland, Maker Faire Bay Area and Austin. Bazaar Bizarre San Francisco is a Handmade market, Indie entertainment extravaganza and D.I.Y. Festival all under one roof!

In addition to throwing some of the best craft events in San Francisco, Bazaar Bizarre SF hosts a blog with listings for shows all over the SF Bay Area, crafty business advice and information about our upcoming shows. You can read about them here!

If you're interested in participating or shopping at future events see our upcoming shows!

Nightlife at The Academy July 14th

JPOP Summit August 27th and 28th

Bazaar Bizarre Holiday Show December 3rd & 4th

Bazaar Bizarre can be found on the following social networks:
Facebook :: Flickr :: Twitter

And from the local geniuses that brought you Bazaar Bizarre San Francisco, we have the Conference of Creative Entrepreneurs!

Learn how to turn your passion into your living at the second annual Conference of Creative Entrepreneurs!  This year’s event will take place August 5th-7th 2011 in beautiful San Francisco.

We’ll be meeting at one of the city’s most inspiring spaces: the San Francisco Women’s Building, situated right in the heart of the bustling Mission District.

CCE is offering three days of learning with some of today’s most successful creative entrepreneurs, so whether you’re trying to start, grow, or manage a creative business, you’ll always find a session that’s right for you. CCE is appropriate for all current or aspiring creative professionals, including fine artists, designers, illustrators, crafters, food artists, and more. They're proud to say that 100% of last year’s surveyed attendees said they would recommend CCE to a friend, so make sure to secure your spot early for this year’s conference.

Representatives from both Bazaar Bizarre SF and CCE will be joining us on Friday for CRAFT PARTY! They'll be leading two Craft Tables with fun activities:

How to make Wool Felt Beads

Craft Party at TechShop

If you live in the Bay Area & you like to make stuff  with your hands then you should really know about TechShop. There are 3 Bay Area locations and several in other parts of the country.
Now, I can hear you asking yourself... "What in the heck IS TechShop?" Dont' worry, I was asking the very same question too. After visiting their gorgeous San Francisco location I can tell you that it is mecca for folks who like to make things... all kinds of things, pretty much anything. But if that still doesn't clear it up for you, then perhaps the following info from their site will shed a brighter light on things:
"TechShop is designed for everyone, regardless of their skill level.
TechShop is perfect for inventors, makers, hackers, tinkerers, artists, roboteers, families, entrepreneurs, youth groups, FIRST robotic teams, arts and crafts enthusiasts, and anyone else who wants to be able to make things that they dream up but don't have the tools, space or skills.
TechShop provides you with access to a wide variety of machinery and tools including milling machines and lathes, welding stations and a CNC plasma cutter, sheet metal working equipment, drill presses and band saws, industrial sewing machines, hand tools, plastic and wood working equipment including a 4' x 8' ShopBot CNC router, electronics design and fabrication facilities, Epilog laser cutters, tubing and metal bending machines, a Dimension SST 3-D printer, electrical supplies and tools, and pretty much everything you'd ever need to make just about anything."
And speaking of making things...

We are Ecstatic to announce that this years Craft Party will be taking place at TechShop San Francisco. This Craft Party isn't your typical Stitch n' Bitch, we are expecting 150 -250 crafters from all over the Bay Area. And it just wouldn't be a party without YOU!

If you haven't been to a TechShop location, you really need to see it to believe all the awesome that it is. Craft Party is an incredible opportunity to come down and spend some
quality time at one.

June 10th from 5- 9 PM

We are still looking for a few volunteers to help us with set up & take down on the day of the event. Please email Jen, our Communications Coordinator to volunteer for this exciting event!
